Strategic plan targets strengths, improvement areas

- Superintendent Chad Lensman

Graham Local Schools is in the second full year of the district strategic plan.

The strategic plan was developed in collaboration with district stakeholders that included; students, certified staff, classified staff, administration, parents, and community members. The team reviewed stakeholder survey data, academic performance data, and other specific district data to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

The collaborative group was able to identify three target areas of focus. The target areas: 1. Academic Achievement; 2. Communications; 3. Culture/climate. The day-today work and decisions in the district are aligned with these three target areas. The comprehensive plan reflects the collaborative team’s work to ensure that all stakeholders partner with Graham to accomplish the district’s vision, Success Today, Prepared for Tomorrow!

The district strategic plan provides targeted areas for the board of administration to align their decision-making and provides specific areas for Graham Local School’s Administration to report progress.

These consistent goals allow all stakeholders to understand what the priorities are in the district and how financial decisions are made to support the accomplishment of the strategic plan goals.

From the initial strategic plan rollout to ongoing updates, communication is critical to the success of the district’s strategic plan. District administration, staff, and Graham Board of Education members are dedicated to transparently communicating progress on the district’s strategic plan. The GLS Board of Education has committed to providing monthly communication on various topics, but one major focus will be the strategic plan. There are also dedicated administrative, staff, and student presentations around the strategic plan that takes place at the monthly Graham Board of Education meetings.

Ultimately, the district is dedicated to ensuring that students will be successful upon graduation in one of the 3 E’s; Enrollment, Enlistment, or Employment. By living the district’s vision, and having a comprehensive strategic plan, the district is dedicated to meeting student needs, challenging to perform at their best, and partnering with all stakeholders in the district to ensure student, district, and community success!
