Movie: The Lady Eve, 8 PM on TCM:

Preston Sturges directed this 1941 screwball comedy about a pair of con artists who target a naive dolt (“Snakes are my life!”). But one of them unexpected­ly falls in love with their prey. Watch for the famous train scene that includes every man’s nightmare. The cast is headed by Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda. The film airs as part of an evening dedicated to “Screwball Comedy.”

In the 1990s the rise in popularity of hip-hop was exponentia­l from Wu-tang Clan to Tupac. But it finds itself attacked by all sides of the political establishm­ent in the new episode “Culture Wars.” Immediatel­y following is the finale episode “Still Fighting,” which chronicles the cultural phenomenon of hip-hop as it produces multimilli­onaire artists such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Dr. Dre — and changes history.

Host Darnell Ferguson schedules two matchups between America’s finest chefs as they bring heat to the kitchen and settle their grudges for $10,000. In the new episode “Iron Chef Showdown,” Chef Shota Nakajima seeks to avenge his loss to Iron Chef and James Beard award-winner Stephanie Izard in a battle for chicken dish supremacy.

History’s Greatest Heists With Pierce Brosnan, 10:03 PM on HIST; 2:04 AM on HIST:

Enterprisi­ng thieves tunnel 40 feet underneath and up into the vault of a Lloyds Bank branch in London back in 1971. But when an amateur radio enthusiast intercepts their walkie-talkie chatter, they find themselves in a highstakes game of cat-andmouse with Scotland Yard. Pierce Brosnan hosts.
