Movie: The Adventures of Robin Hood, 8 PM on
TCM: Nominated for an Academy Award as the best picture of 1938, this rousing adventure won three
Oscars for art direction, film editing and the thrilling musical score of Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Errol Flynn’s title swashbuckler is unbeatable for his mix of heroics and mischievous high spirits, wooing Olivia de Havilland’s radiant Maid Marian and battling Basil Rathbone’s matchlessly evil Sir Guy. The film kicks off the channel’s annual “31 Days of Oscar” programming event.
Abbott Elementary, 9 PM
on Ch. 22 and Ch. 9: Jacob (Chris Perfetti) secures a visit from a mural arts program for his students but doesn’t agree with their chosen design and attempts to influence their decision in another direction. Meanwhile, Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) learn parents are petitioning to turn Abbott into a Legendary charter school in the new episode “Mural Arts.” Quinta Brunson, Janelle James and Tyler James Williams also star.
True Lies, 10 PM on Ch.
7 and Ch. 12: Inspired by James Cameron’s hit action/comedy film of the same name, this series premiere follows Harry Tasker (Steve Howey), a first-class international spy for U.S. intelligence agency Omega Sector, and his wife, Helen (Ginger Gonzaga), a language professor bored with her daily routine, who is shocked to discover that her seemingly dull husband is leading a double life. Omega recruits Helen, who impresses everyone with her formidable skills (thanks to Tae Bo and yoga), and the duo embark on covert missions around the globe.
