- By Brooke Spurlock

The superintendent of Northeastern Local Schools will leave the district in April, after nine years of service and overseeing a major school construction project.

“It has been an immense privilege to serve the NELSD community,” Kronour said.

Kronour will leave effective April 2, after the school board accepted his recognition Thursday night. He will take on a new role as director of sports administration at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated and talented team of educators, administrators, and staff. Together, we have achieved significant milestones, including the construction of new educational facilities and the implementation of innovative programs that have positively impacted our students and the broader community,” Kronour said.

Among the “achieved remarkable milestones” the district has made are the construction of the new facilities, which he said “stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and shared commitment to providing the best possible learning environment for students.”

During Kronour’s tenure, the district saw the completion of several major construction projects, including the two new PK-12 school buildings. The Kenton Ridge school is a 247,855-squarefoot building, and the Northeastern school is a 175,856-squarefoot building.

“Dr. Kronour has made significant contributions to NELSD, and we are deeply grateful for his service,” said Jeffrey Yinger, school board president. “His dedication to the success of our students, staff, and district families, and

his ability to find common ground, has been instrumental in our progress. We wish him the best in his new role at the OHSAA.”

Taking on a new role at the OHSAA, Kronour said the opportunity aligns with his “long-standing passion and represents the fulfillment of a personal aspiration.”

“Although I am excited to embark on this new journey, I will greatly miss the connections I have made within the NELSD community. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all who have supported me throughout my time as superintendent,” he said in a message to parents.

The school board is in the process of appointing an interim superintendent and will begin the search for a new superintendent in the coming weeks. A detailed timeline and information on how the community can participate in the search process will also be shared soon.
