Young Authors event held

-

More than 100 students from Clark-shawnee, Greenon, Northeastern, Northwestern, Ridgewood, Southeastern and Tecumseh joined the Clark County ESC for the Young Authors event March 8. This event helps to encourage, grow and strengthen students’ writing skills.

The first through sixth graders heard from Junice Adetola Olanbiwonnu, author of “It Starts With One Seed.” Olanbiwonnu is also an Intervention Specialist for the Clark County ESC. The seventh through twelfth graders learned from Katie and Carrie Weyler, authors of the Charlie Tractor book series.

The Wittenberg Education Department also came out to lead students in an activity period with Erin Hill and Wittenberg Student Teachers.

ESC seeks substitute teachers

Clark County schools rely on professional and caring substitute teachers every day. They continue to be a vital part of our education community and student success. If you enjoy working with students, have a passion for education and are looking for flexible employment opportunities to fit your schedule, substitute teaching is perfect for you.

At the ESC’S board office, individuals can receive assistance with filling out required paperwork, attend substitute teacher training and obtain a BCI and FBI background check to fulfill the requirements to get their substitute teaching license. We do accept bachelor’s degree and non-bachelor’s degree substitute applications. Currently, Clark County is in the midst of a substitute teacher shortage. Apply today to finish out the ‘23-24 school year or for the ‘2425 school year! To learn more on how you can make a difference as a substitute teacher, visit Clarkesc.org.
