Ca­role Ann La­bati, 81 of Stam­ford, CT and Charlestown, RI passed away peace­fully at Stam­ford Hos­pi­tal on May 25th. Ca­role was the beloved wife of 61 years of John La­bati. She was born in Stam­ford in 1937 to the late John and Della Con­nors Cox and at­tended Stam­ford schools. Af­ter her grad­u­a­tion from Sacred Heart Academy, Ca­role went to work in the per­son­nel of­fice of Conde Nast Pub­li­ca­tions in Green­wich. It was there, at a com­pany pic­nic, that she met the love of her life and her fu­ture hus­band, John. Ca­role also worked as a book­keeper at the of­fice of Dr. Carl P. Kramer, as an ex­ec­u­tive sec­re­tary at CONDEC Cor­po­ra­tion, and at NAED. Af­ter re­tir­ing, Ca­role and John moved to Charlestown, RI, where Ca­role en­joyed gar­den­ing, knit­ting, her weekly card group and sum­mer happy hours with her fam­ily. Ca­role will be re­mem­bered for her love of fam­ily, her fun-lov­ing na­ture, and her strong faith. In ad­di­tion to her hus­band she is sur­vived by four chil­dren, Donna Thig­pen and her hus­band, Bernard, of Stam­ford; John Jr. of Jersey City, NJ; Richard and his wife, Betty, of Stam­ford; James and his wife, Janet, of Sandy Hook, CT. She is also sur­vived by one grand­daugh­ter, Maria La­bati, of Sandy Hook, and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. The fam­ily would like to ex­tend spe­cial thanks to Ca­role’s dear friend, Nelly de la Cruz, for her care and com­pas­sion. Call­ing hours will be held on Tues­day, May 29th, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Ed­ward Lawrence Fu­neral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT. A Mass of Chris­tian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed­nes­day, May 30th, at the Basil­ica of St. John the Evan­ge­list, 279 At­lantic Street, Stam­ford, CT fol­lowed by in­ter­ment at St. John Ceme­tery, 25 Camp Av­enue, Darien, CT.
