GLENBROOK

A four-story office building will likely soon be completely converted to apartments after its owners earlier this month successfully petitioned the Zoning Board to allow the change.

The owners of 45 Church St. have received approvals to convert the three stories of office space into apartments, redo the exterior and spruce up the area with plantings and outdoor seating.

The plan calls for 20 apartments split between the second and third floors in addition to the 10 that are already on the first floor.

SPRINGDALE

A new yoga and wellness center will open this week on Hope Street.

Enjoy Community Wellness will hold a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Friday. According to the Springdale Neighborhood Association, the business is owned by Robyn Whittingham and will offer a full schedule of mainstream and specialty yoga classes along with dance and movement instruction for folks of all ages.

NORTH STAMFORD

The Long Ridge Club, a swim and tennis center, recently filed an application with the city for a zoning code text change to allow a soccer club at the more than 50-year-old private facility.

The proposal, which will need to go to the Planning and Zoning boards, calls for defining a soccer club and requesting a special exception approval for Long Ridge to build one.

The North Stamford Association, on its website, said it is reviewing the change and has not yet formed an opinion. No public hearings have yet been scheduled.

COVE

The Cove Neighborhood Association will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chelsea Piers.

The meeting will focus on the East Coast Greenway, a trail system connecting 15 states — from Maine to Florida.

NORTH STAMFORD

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center will kick off its summer farmers market on Sunday.

The market, which runs on Sundays until Sept. 30, will host a litany of local organic farmers, according to a news release.

“We'll be selling our very own farm-fresh eggs made by our chickens on Heckscher Farm, maple syrup made in our own maple sugar shack, and wool from our sheep,” the release said.

Weekly farm-related family activities will begin July 1, and will include “Market Madness and Edible Science programs” led environmental educators, the release said.

WEST SIDE

The Zoning Board on Tuesday will briefly review a plan by the Boys & Girls Club to build a new gym to increase its total footprint to more than 60,000 square feet.

The plan calls for a special exception to allow the gym and site plan approvals. It includes improvements to nearby Lione Park, which would get upgraded play equipment, fields and courts. The club is at 374 Stillwater Ave.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the fourth floor of the government center.
