Stamford rep puts forth plan to mandate July 4th fireworks
“Although Do Nothing Dave should look to cut salaries from his overpaid and bloated staff. This is just silly for Steve to try to pass. How about working to get a Republican in the mayor’s office and find some real savings so fireworks are not on the chopping block again? However, BLT should be mandated to pay for fireworks with all of the fines they never have to pay and all of the tax breaks they get.” — mkmills via stamfordadvocate.com “Dumbest idea ever — for all of the reasons set forth below. Corporate sponsorship is the way to go.”

“Go Steve K!! ... He even showed up [in] Springdale and consolidated Springdale-Glenbrook coalition meetings to stand in solidarity in opposing some of the TOD proposals slated for our neighborhoods. I hope his plan can force the City to really examine how it spends every tax dollar it is currently taking in, and will take in again, later this December.”

Historic downtown Stamford church for sale
“I dropped my coffee before I read the article. Thank God they are selling to another church. Knowing Martin and his [sic] perchance for destroying landmarks and all our history, I was so happy to read they turned down the developers!”

“It’s a handsome building in a great location, I’m glad another church is buying it instead having it turned into yet more apartments.”

Fourth of July fizzles as Stamford fireworks vendors cite slow business
“Glad people are smartening up about fireworks. The wires sparklers are on get extremely hot and burns fingers. What do most people do when they burn off? Throw them on the ground which increases foot burns and sparking fires. I say leave it up to the professionals and sit back and enjoy their show.”

Stamford man charged for claiming he’s exempt from being pulled over
“What a real jerk !!!! ”
— JPM95 via stamfordadvocate.com “‘DOT exempt’ — is that the next trick after the red-blue lights on the dashboard/windshield? I've seen a few cars like that, clearly driven by civilians.
Also, while at it, please pull over those cars with blinking/flashing stop lights. Is that even legal in CT? If it is, I must say it is quite annoying. What’s next? Christmas light wrapped around cars?”
