TURN OF RIVER
The Board of Representatives Land Use Committee is slated to meet Tuesday to discuss an effort to have the board overturn a recent Zoning Board decision to allow stand-alone gyms in office parks.
The petition, to bring the Zoning Board’s aphas proval of a text change that would allow gyms in the High Ridge Office Park and all others to the full Board of Representatives for review, had 700 signatures, but according to the city, condo-owners and signatures from only one of jointly held homes, for example, were scrapped along with several others, leaving the petitioners 60 residents short of the needed 300 signatures.
The meeting is slated for 7 p.m. in the fourthfloor Democratic Caucus room in city hall.

BULL’S HEAD
The proposal to bring a Chick-fil-A with a drivethrough to a busy intersection will likely be back in front of the Zoning Board next week.
The plan, to build the sandwich franchise where a vacant bank sits on Cold Spring Road between High Ridge and Long Ridge roads, has already brought on strong rebukes from the Planning Board and city Land Use staffers. The board has tentatively scheduled the hearing for July 16.
The company contends the new drive-though would have little impact on traffic at the bustling intersection, but city officials don’t agree.
Mayor David Martin, in a letter to the Zoning Board, has also come out against the plan.
At the last hearing, Chick-fil-A representatives put on a two-hour charm offensive about the quality of the chain’s food, the company’s values and community good works.
Board members at the hearing appeared to listen politely, but turned their focus back to traffic worries and directed their questioning to the drive-through, as did nearly all of the public speakers.
