Shibutani, who won two bronze medals with his sister Maia at the 2018 Olympics, paid a visit to his old stomping grounds at Brunswick on Thursday, according to a post on his Instagram @AlexShibut­ani. The former Greenwich resident also enjoyed a to-go order of nuggets from Garden Catering during his stop. Shibutani was in the area to attend the U.S. Open when he took a drive up to town, where he lived as a youngster and first put on a pair of ice skates.

Out there… Swim Across America along with Greenwich Crew and the Greenwich Water Club will host a charity rowing fundraiser Meters For A Cure ERG Challenge for crucial cancer research from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Greenwich Water Club in Cos Cob. Participan­ts will row on indoor rowing machines/ergometers, competing to accumulate the most meters in 40 minutes. Teams of four will be created, divided by age group, with each participan­t raising at least $100 for the cause. Old Greenwich resident Nicole Graham,a 21-year-old undergoing treatment for relapsed leukemia, will be the guest speaker. State Sen. L. Scott Frantz, a former rower at Princeton and a Riverside resident, will take part in the challenge. Friends of Greenwich Crew board member Marcus Zavattaro will serve as master of ceremonies. It all benefits Swim Across America Fairfield County and the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, which is dedicated exclusivel­y to funding cancer gene therapy research. Scene…Greenwich residents and TV personalit­ies Regis and Joy Philbin were seen having dinner at Mediterran­eo in Greenwich on Tuesday night. They were also spotted having dinner with Greenwich residents Judge Judy and Judge Jerry Sheindlin at Valbella in Old Greenwich last weekend.
