Scene… TV personalit­ies Regis and Joy Philbin of Greenwich were seen dining with friends at Polpo Restaurant & Saloon last week.

On stage… The Bedford Playhouse will celebrate a grand opening as it unveils a $6 million renovation, which took three years to complete. The Playhouse at 633 Old Post Road in Bedford, N.Y., will dish up three days of food, movies, live entertainm­ent, parties and special guests, including legendary music producer Clive Davis and “Late Night With

David Letterman” bandleader Paul Shaffer, both of Bedford. The party kicks off Friday, Sept. 28, with a Red Carpet Night, featuring beer and wine tastings, food, the debut of The Worby Theater and The Clive Theater, live music and a showing of “Dirty Dancing.” The festivitie­s continue through Sunday, Sept. 30, with a family day with muffins and mimosas, storytelli­ng, puppets and movie showings. Out there… Venezuelan artist Jacqueline Matute is displaying her colorfully large acrylic paintings through Oct. 1 at the Byram Shubert Library in Cos Cob in honor of Hispanic Celebratio­n Month. Matute, who studied at the Art School of the Louvre in Paris and the Cultural House of Maracayin Venezuela, has exhibited her work in France, Spain, Monaco, Canada, the United States, and Venezuela.

Scene… “The Last Taste of Summer — A Craft Beer Tasting Event” will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich. The event will feature over 75 tastings from over 30 breweries as well as spirits, wines, kombucha, flavored waters, food samplings, cider, games and activities. Food trucks from LobsterCra­ft, Melt Mobile, Rise Brewing, MilkCraft, Wendy’s Weenies and MiniMunch will be on the scene. Wilton Steel Community Band, Doghouse and Fingerslee­ve will entertain with live music. Proceeds will benefit Live Green’s Start In Your Own Front Yard Program to keep plastic out of the ocean. Scene… “Good Morning America” co-host Lara Spencer of Greenwich was seen at Aux Delices on West Elm Street in Greenwich on Friday afternoon. Spencer recently tied the knot with entreprene­ur Rick McVey in an intimate ceremony with family and friends in Vail, Colo.

Out there… Columnist and Stamford native Jerry Zezima’s newest book, “Nini and Poppie’s Excellent Adventures: Grandkids, Wine Clubs, and Other Ways to Keep Having Fun,” has just been published. The book, which is available on Amazon, is the author’s fourth collection of nationally syndicated humor columns, which have appeared in the Stamford Advocate, as well as other Hearst Connecticu­t Media newspapers.
