Irv­ing D. Le­bow, age 96, passed away peace­fully on Thurs­day, Oct. 18, 2018.

Born in Brook­lyn, NY on Novem­ber 3, 1921, the youngest of three sons born to the late Anna & Ben­jamin Le­bow.

Irv grew up in Stam­ford at­tend­ing pub­lic schools and grad­u­ated Stam­ford High School in 1938. He en­listed in the Army Air Force in 1942 and was sta­tioned at the 3rd Strate­gic Air De­pot out­side Neaton, Eng­land. He was as­signed to the 3rd Mo­bile Recla­ma­tion & Re­pair Squadron whose re­spon­si­bil­ity was the re­pair & main­te­nance of all 2nd Air Di­vi­sion B-24 Lib­er­a­tors. He was Hon­or­ably Dis­charged on Fri­day, Novem­ber 13, 1945, mak­ing Fri­day the 13th his “lucky” day.

Upon his re­turn to Stam­ford, Irv worked in the re­tail cloth­ing busi­ness and, in 1951, opened and op­er­ated Le­bow’s Sub­ur­ban Bootery on Elm Street in New Canaan un­til his re­tire­ment in 1986.

Irv was al­ways ac­tively in­volved in sports, par­tic­u­larly golf, bas­ket­ball, soft­ball & soc­cer. He also de­voted a great amount of time to civic or­ga­ni­za­tions in­clud­ing North Stam­ford & New Canaan Ex­change Clubs, the Var­sity Club and Toast­mas­ters. He also en­joyed be­ing in­volved with the Jewish Com­mu­nity Cen­ter and his sy­n­a­gogue.

He is sur­vived by his chil­dren Mark (Deb­bie) Le­bow and Rachel Drucker all of Stam­ford and Lyn (Mike) Soli­nas of Craw­ford, West Vir­gina. Also sur­viv­ing him are his grand­sons Ja­son (Alyssa) Soli­nas and their chil­dren Jame­son and Layne of Asheville, North Carolina and Adam (Eileen) Soli­nas and their chil­dren Eve­lyn and Aaron of Pitts­burgh, PA.

He was pre­de­ceased by two wives, An­nette “Net­tie” Le­bow (2011) and Leonora “Libby” Le­bow (1966).

A Fu­neral Ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Mon­day Oc­to­ber 22, 2018 at the Leo P. Gal­lagher Fu­neral Home, 2900 Sum­mer St., Stam­ford, CT with in­ter­ment im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing at Beth El Ceme­tery 350 Roxbury Rd. Stam­ford, CT. A re­cep­tion for friends and fam­ily will fol­low at Atria Se­nior Liv­ing 77 Third St. Stam­ford, CT there­after.
