STAMFORD — Police say a city man under investigation by the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad was found with 250 folds of fentanyl.

Capt. Richard Conklin said officers in the squad heard that Kendrick Pozo, 23, of West Main Street, was going into New York City to buy drugs and bring them back to sell on the street.

Officers watched as he left his home about 6 p.m. Thursday. Conklin said officers approached him when he returned around 9 p.m.

Conklin said Pozo ran away when officers asked him to take his hands out of his pockets.

Conklin said officers quickly caught up with Pozo and an item fell out of his pocket as he was taken into custody.

Conklin said the 250 folds of fentanyl were stamped “9 1⁄2.”

“This is a very dangerous drug that has resulted in a number of fatal overdoses in Stamford and around the area,” Conklin said. “It was nice that we were able to take a lot of this lethal drug off the street.”

Pozo was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, interfering with police and possession of a controlled substance.

Pozo was arraigned at the Stamford courthouse and a judge ordered him held on a $200,000 court appearance bond.
