Erika Meissner, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019 at CT Hospice in Branford. Born in Reichenbac­h, Germany, she was a daughter of Erich Reigert and Anna Keislich. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Rudolf Alfred Meissner.

Erika enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed singing and was a member of the German American Singing Society. She was a seamstress and loved knitting and crocheting. She passionate­ly created beautiful handmade clothing for her family, and to share and donate to others.

Erika was a remarkable woman. In her early years she lived life to the fullest and enjoyed music and gymnastics. Later in life, she faced many physical challenges, but overcame them, sharing her strength and encouragin­g those around her. Her energy, smile and compassion will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband, Erika is survived by her daughter Irene Romaniello, (Meissner) and husband Rocco, of Stratford; her sister, Regina Reigert of Schkeuditz Germany; her grandchild­ren, Nicole Erika Romaniello and Daniel Rocco Romaniello; nieces and nephews Linda, Elizabeth, Eric and Robert Groth; and by her dear friends John & Susan Gilronan and William Kuba.
