Stamford city rep’s racist Facebook posts prompt calls for resignation, censure
“As a Democrat and a former member of both the Board of Representatives and the Democratic CIty Committee, this goes beyond the parameters of free speech and Ms. McGarry should resign from both the BOR and the DCC.”
— Jeff Curtis Sr, via facebook.com/stamfordadvocate “Freedom of Speech only exists for liberals. Have we all forgotten the rules?”
— Jenny Kalooch, via facebook.com/stamfordadvocate “I’m confused...this elected official is serving as a Democrat, but refers to all Democrats as Dem-o-rats? WTF?”
— Cindy Signore Richardson, via
facebook.com/stamfordadvocate “She needs to resign. All members of B of Reps must call for her resignation.”

“The Board of Reps is an irrelevant body. A censure is equivalent to being denied fries at McDonald’s. Stamford is a city, NOT a town. If we want to be taken seriously in the 21st Century, then it’s time to amend the city charter and moved toward a form of govt. that every modern city in the country has. It’s called city-council and it requires fewer seats, not four dozen wanna-be legislators, of which half are utterly incompetent. There is a reason why so few vote in Board of Rep races: voters find them to be irrelevant (only those who serve on the Board believe otherwise).”

“If that vile anti-Semitic congresswoman Ilhan Omar can keep her job, then Ms. McGarry should be able to keep hers. That being said, these posts seem so out-of-character for the Rep. McGarry that I served with many years ago. I remember her as a decent, conscientious legislator who worked well with members of both parties. I frankly don't understand how she could have posted this stuff.”

“Let her have her right to free speech and ignore her. The BO Reps needs to stick to their knitting. Pave my roads. Educate my kids. Pick up my garbage and leaves. Give the great unwashed masses a fireworks show. The less we hear from them the better off we are.”
