Residents catch up with a Yankee great
Scene… Greenwich residents Peter and Caren St. Phillip attended the recent Yankees win over the Boston Red Sox when Brett Gardner hit his 100 home run. The couple also spent some time in the broadcast booth with retired Yankees star Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez and Greenwich resident John “Flip” Filippelli, president of production and programming at the YES Network.
Out there… An evening of cocktails and conversation with author Melissa Fleming, head of communications and chief spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Marcia Biggs, special correspondent for “PBS NewsHour,” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 9, at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich. Scene… The Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County raised $450,000 at a benefit concert featuring Grammy winner Marc Cohn and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Coasters at The Palace in Stamford on April 4. Greenwich resident Thasunda Brown Duckett, chief executive officer of Chase Consumer Banking, received the CLC Knobby Award, which is named for Bill and Audrey Knobloch, longstanding supporters of the CLC and advocates of early childhood education. Duckett serves on CLC’s board of directors, and Chase employees volunteer regularly with CLC’s Head Start Program. On the Ave … The opening night festivities for the Greenwich Arts Council’s 2019 “Art To The Avenue” will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. That evening, Greenwich Avenue and surrounding streets will become a strolling art gallery with displays in shops and restaurants showing off the work of over 120 artists.
