New sidewalk along Summer Street in Stamford

“I wondered why the trees were cut down. We need trees more than bricks .... ” Marion D Percy via fb.com/stamfordadvocate “In this heat, hope they stay hydrated!” Angela Salvatore via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“Lol all this for hipster and yuppies meanwhile our schools are filled with mold.” Jaime Andres Mejia via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“How about fixing the pot hole marred roads throughout the city that are destroying cars before laying “decorative” brick edging to a sidewalk.” Anton Tomaj via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“This is a good start. I hope they keep going. Both side of the street need to be done all the way to Bulls Head.” Richard Gillespie via fb.com/stamfordadvocate “Tell them to brick cedar heights. Anything will be better then what’s there.” Steve Sposato via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“Well who else agrees this is ‘money well spent’??? When it gets cold the bricks will buckle making the icy path even worse to walk on. Stamford sure knows how to waste money. Geez.” CUINVA via stamfordadvocate.com

“They are nice I guess, but what would also be nice is if my street would get repaved.” MayorMcCheese via stamfordadvocate.com

“It looks really pretty but honestly the money could have been spent on the schools or park police. I'm sure it was expensive. Waste of money at this time, in my opinion, given all the fiscal challenges Stamford is facing. Honestly, I'm wondering why it is taking a year to finish Veteran's park. It seems excessive.” somethingtosay via stamfordadvocate.com “All these fancy brick road work and sidewalks is just a waste of money.” RUDEBOY via stamfordadvocate.com

“Brick walks are terrible in the winter. But then I guess you could just walk in the street, all the rough pavement and potholes should give traction.” Bahn_Burner via stamfordadvocate.com

“Was the guys' lawn that got messed up while doing road work, and other homes like his, ever fixed, or is that still 'his' problem and you've moved on to more decorative things?” Gr8ragu007 via stamfordadvocate.com “martins daughter works in the building next to the sidewalk. go figure.” LBJohnson11 via stamfordadvocate.com

Rep: Consider Stamford police racialbias suit when voting on next chief

“What a waste of time hiring a new Chief. Just hire from within because their record would speak for its self. The deputy chief or chief's has a right and chance too, being here their whole career.” Ed Eilertsen via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“That's gonna have to be a Strong No. We have such a deverse city, can't have anyone with any bias.” Anthony CT Carde via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

Trailblazers charter school to close in Stamford

“One of the most sadness news me and my son were soo excited to assist to This school, now yes he and more than 100 kids will go to another school but what about us as parents our jobs are in the border too all the staff from there lost theirs jobs... how the board of education couldn’t help a little instead of making more buildings or paying welfare for lazy people who rather stay home than look for a decent job so they can pay for their rent, food kids stuff no they are leaving from the government’s money. WHY NOT HELP AND CUT THE FOUNDS FOR A SCHOOL FOR OUR KIDS OUR FUTURE.” Cledin González via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“It is awful that Trailblazers is closing. I wish they would explain more about the financial situation that led to this outcome. The BOE only cut $50,000. While that is a lot of $, what could it be ONE staff salary??? This cut can’t be why the school closed. In fact, the article states that in May a Domus board member said the cut would not affect their ability to open this year. They must have lost a lot more grant funding or something. I wish the Advocate would give more complete information instead of allowing people to blame the BOE or government for this outcome.” Amy LaCascia Notter via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“Seriously This is so messed up. I hope these kids have a school to go to. Why would you want to close down a school that you know these kids need. Placing them in jeopardy of having no future or school to go to. I can’t wait for reelections these politicians and city leaders have no regard for the community they are supposed to serve and uplift.” Jonathan Vic via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“What a huge loss for the city. SPS made a huge mistake in cutting their funding.” Kate Taylor via fb.com/stamfordadvocate “This has mold remediation written all over it ...” Melissa Nagle via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“This is sad Trailblazers has been around a long time. My guess is that some state or federal grant fell through or they were not able to raise enough through private donations. They are not closing because SPS took 10% or $50k from them. SPS was still going to give Domus $450k for the 2019/2020 school year. All the kids that live in Stamford will be registering at their distracted middle school. Domus and SPS will be helping families do this. Kids from outside of Stamford will need to register with their town distracted middle school. Charter schools are not under overseen by the town/city officials. They are only overseen by the state. Again my guess is the funding fell through. In the last year Domus has closed 2 residential homes 1 on new field avenue and 1 on summer st/Washington blvd area. The writing was on the wall that something was going on.” Roxi Salas Williams via fb.com/stamfordadvocate

“bringing these kids back to SPS will cost more than $3,000,000 in the long run. What a mess of a move yet again. And away we go ...... ” ryakiddinme via stamfordadvocate.com

“Actually only about 8 students are not Stamford residents and about 45+ students are identified as needing Special Education services so that will cost the city way more than the 450,000 the Superintendent says the city got back.” StamfordMom216 via stamfordadvocate.com

“not great news considering these kids will be back in the middle and high schools now. Are the schools prepared to deal with the major disciplinary problems? Prob not .... ” Alethia via stamfordadvocate.com “What is the best way to balance schools' budget? Close schools. Rrrright!” Fandy1 via stamfordadvocate.com “How many times can a D.N.R.case be ignored?” Veritas via stamfordadvocate.com
