“The point here is the amount of bail. I stated here that I think bails are too low for many assault crimes, some as low as a $1,000 as reported here.
Is it any different than cars flashing their lights to oncoming traffic that there is a radar trap ahead?. And that merits a $25,000 bond and 6 hours in

I am sure you would get a ticket if you flashed your headlights, were warned that it was interfering with a police action, and then did it again minutes later. So we have a report that Mr. Friend was not cooperating with police. If he continued to be uncooperative the consequences may not have been excessive.

“As I've been saying, the cops are corrupt. First off, if there is a bail standard, publish it. Misd are $250, GM are $1000 Felonies can vary depending, but it's set. Nothing willy nilly. Really, unless the crime is so egregious, why have bail at all. If not a flight risk, give the OR or no bail. Jails are not as crowded and the fool will be brought to court eventually. If s/he skips court after bail or OR, so what? Warrant out for arrest. But to set a bail at 'X" for a misdemeanor and you can set bail to whatever you want? Do you or do you not have a set bail schedule and if not, why not? The fact that the guy did what he did is flat out stupid.
