The Sterling Farms Women’s Golf Club 2019 Player of the Year is Patana Iamkrasin.
In a September 24 Tee to Green Tournament for the 18 Holers, in A Flight, Jeanette Chagaris (54) was low gross score champ. In B Flight, Patana Iamkrasin (62) was low gross score winner while Debbie Golden (31) took low net honors. In C Flight, Alberta Bove (72) was low gross score with Diane Chartier (38) as low net.
In a September 24 Stroke Play Tournament for the 9 Holers, in A Flight, Amy Vitale was 1st low net followed by Karen Hart. In B Flight, Anne DuFrane was 1st low net.
HUBBARD HEIGHTS
The 9 Holers held a Stroke Play tournament on Thursday, September 26th. Winners were Linda Colucci for Low Gross score (59). Low Net winner was Geri Genovese (39).
In a September 26 Stroke Play event for the 18 Holers, Carol Frattaroli (88) was low gross score champ. Anne Strahm (70) was low net score winner. In the Seniors Division, Sue Cortese (87) was low gross score while Anne Striffler (76) was low net score. In the Legends Division, Jean Krause (96) was low gross score with Patana Iamkrasin (75) as low net score.
In a September 19 Putting contest for the 9 Holers, the winner was Geri Genovese (18 putts). In the Putting contest for the 18 Holers, Jeanette Chagaris (27 putts) was the champ.
The 18 Holers also gave out three additional prizes to Sue Cortese (30 putts), Jen Kaplan (32 putts) and Jane Cloutier (32 putts).

In a September 2022 Stroke play weekend event, in A Flight, Cahal McMonagle (74) was the low gross score champ ahead of Ted Blackinton (77) and Jamie Russo (77). Roger Haggerty (70) was low net score titlist on a match of cards with Peter Perimenis (70) and Andre Sieh (70).
In B Flight, Ben Moskowitz (81) was low gross score ahead of Chris Velander (82) and Tony Carlucci (83). Jonathan Papp (67) was low net score, edging out Bob Fogel (68) and Art D’Estrada (68). In C Flight, Tim Dausch (81) was low gross score ahead of Ed Levene (87). Bill Ward (63) was low net score. David Vandyke (68) and Mike Cacace (69) were next.
HUBBARD HEIGHTS
In a September 2022 weekend event, in A Flight, Bob Somody was the winner. Mike Carriero, Ed Zizlis and Scott Failla were next. In B Flight, Will McEwan edged out John Perry. Chuck Salek and Mike Storch followed.
WESTHILL HALL OF FAME
The Westhill Athletic Department has announced that after a year of preparation the newly formed Westhill High School Athletic Hall of Fame (WHHoF) will be inducting its first class in May of 2020. The WHHOF will be accepting nominations through October 31. The list of inductees will be released in February 2020. They will be honored at the Senior Athlete Recognition and Hall of Fame Dinner in May 2020.

The Stamford Youth Soccer League (SYSL) is holding tryouts for its 2020 Spring boys and girls age groups travel teams between October 1 and October 7 at West Beach and Rippowam turf fields.

STAMFORD OLD TIMERS
The 77th annual Stamford Old Timers Association dinner is set for Monday, December 2 at 6 p.m. at the Stamford Italian Center at 1620 Newfield Avenue.
Proceeds help fund scholarships for needy and deserving local scholarathletes and local sports teams.
The 2019 local honorees include Jaime Camacho, Tom Chiappetta, Mickey DeVito, Jim Sabia, Steve Summa and Tom Vitti.
National honorees will be former USC and NFL standout linebacker Garry Cobb along with current NHL executive and former Major Indoor Soccer League Commissioner and CEO Steve Ryan.
Cocktail hour is at 6 p.m. with the dinner starting at 7 p.m.

DONATE USED BASEBALL EQUIPMENT
The Polish National Youth Baseball Foundation is collecting used baseball equipment (Bats, Balls, Gloves, Uniforms, Catchers Equipment) for the children in Poland and Eastern Europe. Donations may be dropped off at Clark’s Trophy’s on Viaduct Road, Instant Replay and Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy at 4 Largo Dr. in Springdale or in Shippan Point at 222 Ocean Drive East.
