Greenwich Hospital honors one of its own
Scene… Over 100 guests, dignitaries and hospital personnel attended Greenwich Hospital’s ribboncutting ceremony last Tuesday celebrating a gift from the Lindemann family to refurbish the Intensive Care Unit’s family waiting room in honor of Greenwich native Dr. James Brunetti for his compassionate care and exceptional treatment of their father/husband, the late George Lindemann. In addition, First Selectman Peter Tesei read a proclamation declaring Oct. 29 as “Dr. James Brunetti Day.” Brunetti has been an active member of the medical community since his residency at Greenwich Hospital (199497) and is a past recipient of Greenwich Hospital’s prestigious Partner in Care Award in honor of his compassionate bedside manner with patients and families. Brunetti will also be honored at the hospital’s Annual Spring Benefit along with Arthur C. Martinez, retired president and CEO of Sears, Roebuck and Co. and a member of the hospital’s board of trustees, and his wife and volunteer Elizabeth Martinez. Former “Today” show cohost and Riverside resident Kathie Lee Gifford, a personal friend of Dr. Brunetti, will serve as emcee at the event, which will take place at Greenwich Country Club on May 15. Out there… Cindi Bigelow, president and CEO of Bigelow Tea, based in Fairfield, was honored with the 2019 National Workplace Lifetime Achievement Award from Character.Org on Oct. 24 for inspiring people to show good character and for her company’s sustainability efforts to protect the environment. Character.Org is a national advocacy group that promotes character education and strives to influence people in other areas, including the workplace, the family and sports. In accepting the honor, Bigelow, the thirdgeneration CEO of the familyowned company, praised the organization for its work to promote character building at a young age and shared examples of how her father taught her the meaning of character.
