STAMFORD OLD TIMERS
The 77th Stamford Old Timers Association dinner is set for Monday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Stamford Italian Center at 1620 Newfield Avenue.
Proceeds help fund scholarships for needy and deserving local scholarathletes and local sports teams.
The 2019 local honorees include Jaime Camacho, Tom Chiappetta, Mickey DeVito, Jim Sabia, Steve Summa and Tom Vitti.
National honorees will be former USC and NFL standout linebacker Garry Cobb along with current NHL executive and former Major Indoor Soccer League Commissioner and CEO Steve Ryan.

Steven Summa grew up in Stamford and is a Class of 1973 graduate of Rippowam High School. Steve was a threeyear varsity starter on the Rippowam baseball team and a twoyear starter on Rip’s football team. He also played in the Senior Babe Ruth World Series in North Carolina in 1972.
In 1971, at 16 years of age, Steve was invited to try out with the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. From 1975 to 1990 he played in the Stamford Industrial Softball League for the Pitney Bowes team. Steve bowled in the Ten Pin Commercial League holding a 190+ average. Steve is a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO), Board 9 Basketball Association, The Fairfield County Football Officials Association (FCFOA), and the Greater Fairfield County Umpires Softball Association (GFCUSA).
Tom Vitti is a lifelong Stamford resident who played baseball in the Lione Little League and Stamford Babe Ruth League. He played under legendary coaches Sharkey Laureno, Bobby Kennedy, Fred Giuliani, Bart Gerardi and Gerry Esposito. Vitti was the starting second baseman for Stamford’s first 1618yearold World Series Champion Babe

Tom attended and graduated Stamford Catholic High School in 1969. Vitti played three years of varsity football and was a tricaptain his senior year with Gerry Costello and Mike Burke. The SCHS football team were the first FCIAC champs in 1966 defeating Rippowam for the title. The Crusaders were also Connecticut State Champs in 1966 completing an undefeated season.
Vitti was a threeyear starter on the SCHS varsity baseball team. SCHS won FCIAC championships in both his sophomore and senior years. Tom went to Villanova University where he was a fouryear varsity baseball starter. He earned a BS in Accounting in 1973.
