Blunt, Krasinski, Clintons turn up at Playhouse
Scene… The Bedford Playhouse was the place to be for celebrity sightings over the Thanksgiving holiday. Actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski stopped in the gorgeous Clive Davis Theatre and Playhouse Cafe on the Old Post Road in nearby Bedford, N.Y., as did Chappaqua residents Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. Matchbox Twenty front man and Mount Kisco resident Rob Thomas spontaneously burst into song with fellow moviegoers with a piano donated by Bedford resident Paul Shaffer in the Cafe after a viewing of the recently released thriller “Knives Out.”
Out there… The fifth annual Sip and Shop to benefit The Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport takes place on from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at the No. 299 boutique at 11 Unquowa Road in Fairfield. The event — hosted by the shop’s owner Jackie WeihsFucigna with Valerie Foster and Beth Cooney from the CFJ — benefits victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse in our local communities each year. Out there… The Friends and Staff of the Cos Cob Library will host the Greenwich Conservatory of Classical Ballet for a “Nutcracker” reading followed by a discussion from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The event will feature light refreshments and a meetandgreet photoopp with Clara, The Dolls and part of the cast of the production’s dancers. Scene… The Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa’s Village is taking place through Dec. 24 at Sam Bridge Nursery & Greenhouses on North Street in Greenwich. Out there… Connecticut resident and bestselling author and TV producer Candace Bushnell mentioned in a recent interview with Greenwich Magazine that one of her favorite spots to dine in town is Le Penguin on Lewis Street. Bushnell’s 1996 novel “Sex and the City” was turned into the HBO hit series of the same title starring Sarah Jessica Parker (who was recently seen having breakfast with her husband Matthew Broderick at Lakeside Diner in Stamford). Bushnell recently released her new novel, “Is There Still Sex In the City?” She will serve as keynote speaker at the Sole Sisters luncheon to benefit the Greenwich United Way on April 21.

Presbyterian Church of New Canaan’s annual concert “A Winter’s Night” takes place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15. The concert by candlelight will feature Cecilia MacDowell’s “A Winter’s Night” and works by living composers accompanied by brass, harp and organ, and culminating with carols sung by candlelight with the congregation.
