Scene… The Bedford Playhouse hosted Dylan Lauren, owner and CEO of the iconic Dylan’s Candy Bar and daughter of fashion icon Ralph Lauren, last Sunday afternoon in the playhouse’s main theater in her hometown of Bedford, N.Y. Patrons were privy to a conversation and Q&A with the queen of sugar and entrepreneur moderated by filmmaker and producer Dyllan McGee. The event featured a self-serve candy bar and a raffle drawing offering a private tour of the New York City store with Dylan herself. Her husband, Paul Arrouet, co-founder of Marblegate Asset Management in Greenwich, was in the audience cheering her on.
Out there … Double Exposure on the Post Road in Darien is marking 20 years in business with a party on Jan. 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests will be offered light refreshments and a raffle of four $50 gift cards. In addition, the shop’s charitable partners, the Women’s Mentoring Network of Stamford, will be there collecting toiletries, laundry detergent, dish soap and winter accessories (i.e. hats & gloves). Out there … Greenwich Library is featuring an Authors Live event with author Andrew Marantz and Tom Mellana, managing editor of Greenwich Time and the Stamford Advocate, on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. Mellana and Marantz, a Greenwich native and staff writer at The New Yorker, will discuss his new book, “Antisocial: Online Extremists, Techno-utopians, and the Hijacking of the American Conversation.” The event is free and open to the public. The Avon Theatre’s Oscar festival runs this weekend through Feb. 9 with a line-up of films nominated for Academy Awards. The schedule of 11 films includes nine features and documentary short films, including “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” “Joker,” “Honeyland,” “Corpus Christi” and “The Lighthouse.” Admission to all 11 screenings is $35 for members, $75 for non-members.
