Cooper, Pitt and DiCaprio drop by Westport to dine
Scene… Actors Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio were spotted enjoying lunch at Bartaco on Wilton Road in Westport on Wednesday afternoon. Cooper is renting a home on Sasco Hill Road in nearby Fairfield.
Out there… Monopoly is coming to town! In the official Greenwich version of the game, under license from Hasbro by Top Trumps USA Inc., Boardwalk, Park Place and the B&O Railroad with be replaced by favorite local spots, including Greenwich Avenue, Tod’s Point and Metro-North Railroad. The community is invited to suggest iconic locations for the game board and customized playing cards by emailing Greenwich@toptrumps.com, or cast suggestions via social media, using the hashtag #GreenwichMonopoly. The Greenwich edition of the game will be availble for sale later this year.
On the Ave… The Greenwich Chamber of Commerce kicked off the grand opening of the Piccolina Shop at 82 Greenwich Ave. on Friday with a ribboncutting ceremony. The store, started by Janice Wright, Alejandra Salazar and Lena Scilipoti, offers an assortment of cute baby and toddler clothing, gifts, gear, toys and more. On the big screen… The Avon Theatre in Stamford is offering in-person showings of classic and newly released films Thursdays through Sundays, as well as provide streaming access through Avon Online. Out there… The U.S. Open Golf Championship is scheduled for Sept. 17 to Sept. 20 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., with no spectators due to the coronavirus pandemic. U.S. Open tickets purchased directly from the USGA will be automatically refunded.
Reminder… The Off-Beat Players, a Greenwich-based inclusive theater group, is presenting “Anything’s Possible,” a three-performance event this month. Due to the COVID outbreak, the performances will be shown virtually. The first show, “A Rodgers and Hammerstein Concert,” including songs from “Cinderella,” “The Sound of Music,” “The King and I” and “South Pacific” premiered this weekend. Premiering Aug. 7 will be “Charlotte’s Web,” a musical production based on the beloved children’s book by E. B. White. On Aug. 14, “The OBP Variety Show” will premiere, with Broadway songs, sketch comedy, and original pieces written by cast members. Tickets are $20 for access to all three shows online.
