Police: Collision leaves 2 seriously injured, others hurt
STAMFORD — Two people were seriously injured and others were hurt in a collision of two vehicles at North State and Canal streets in downtown Stamford late Friday, police said.
A 2017 Jaguar driven by a 23-year-old Norwalk resident was traveling east on North State Street just before 11 p.m. at the intersection with Canal Street when it collided with a 2012 Ford Escape driven by a 22-year-old Wilton resident, police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth said Saturday morning.
An updated news release sent Saturday afternoon identified the Jaguar driver as Diana Feliz and the Ford Escape driver as Brian O’Connell.

Escape, 22 year-old Wilton resident Zachary Adams, suffered life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition at Stamford Hospital on Saturday, according to the release, and O’Connell sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Both of them remained in the hospital as of Saturday afternoon, officials wrote.
Feliz and the passenger in her car, 26-year-old Stamford resident Brandon Turner, were transported to Stamford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials wrote.
“The force of the impact caused both vehicles to be redirected to the northwest corner of the intersection, where they came to final rest. Both vehicles suffered very heavy damage,” Booth said.
Stamford Fire Rescue had to extricate the occupants of the Ford Escape from the vehicle, he said.
“The initial investigation revealed that the Ford Escape went through a red traffic control signal at the intersection,” the updated release said, adding investigators were also looking into “contributing factors.”
Officers Lindsey Yanicky and Sean Grabowski of the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad were investigating.
“As of this time, no charges have been filed, the incident is remains under investigation.” Booth said.
