STAMFORD — A city man was arraigned Wednesday for allegedly stabbing another man several times during an assault that was watched by several witnesses who helped identify the suspect, police said.

Marcus “Deuce Deuce” Williams, 28, of Fairgate Drive, was charged with firstdegree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, threatening and violating a judge’s protective order. At his arraignment he was ordered held in lieu of a $500,000 court appearance bond and the case was moved to the Part A docket where the most serious cases in the judicial district are adjudicated.

Public Defender Howard Ehring said he was unable to comment directly on the allegations contained in William’s arrest warrant.

“Our office has been made aware of his most recent arrest and we are filing the appropriate discovery motions and will discuss with Mr. Williams the direction of the case that he would like to go in,” Ehring said. He is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 11 to make pleas in the case.

According to Williams’ eight-page arrest warrant, police were called to the Stamford Hospital emergency room on the report of a patient suffering from a stab wound at 1:30 a.m. on Oct 22.

Witnesses described an attack by Williams earlier in the night that allegedly occurred as they tried to prevent him from entering a property where they were, police said.

Witnesses said Williams took a threeinch folding knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim in the left side of his head, the affidavit said.

The two continued to struggle along Richmond Hill Avenue, the affidavit said.

Along with the two stab wounds to his head, the man was also stabbed in the left clavicle, top of the left shoulder and the middle left of his back, according to the affidavit.

Police say Williams has an “extensive” criminal history that includes arrests and convictions for armed robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon and several violations of probation. Police also say that he threatened to kill one of the witnesses to the stabbing in a Facebook post.
