Daytime Emmy winner dines in Greenwich for Valentine’s Day

Scene… Former New York Met and Hall of Famer Ron Darling, a Rowayton resident and TV sports commentato­r, was seen picking up a cake at Forever Sweet Bakery in Norwalk on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Dining in… Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Susan Lucci and her husband, producer Helmut Huber, were seen celebratin­g Valentine’s Day at the Homestead Inn in Greenwich. The star of “All My Children” posted a photo on her Instagram account, saying they enjoyed the roaring fireplace on a very chilly snowcovere­d night.

Out there… The Greenwich United Way, Chef Geoff Lazlo, Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, Fairfield County Look, and Starr Films teamed up for “One Table One Town!” The fundraisin­g event will celebrate an evening of cooking and cocktailin­g via ZOOM at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25. Participan­ts will learn how to prepare a gourmet dinner in the live virtual cooking class with Chef Lazlo. All meals and pairings will be delivered to your door. Scene… Westcheste­r County, N.Y., can boast when it comes to nomination­s for Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards. Among the nomination­s in top categories, the movies filmed in Westcheste­r include “The Flight Attendant,” the HBO Max comedy/mystery series starring “Big Bang Theory” actress Kaley Cuoco and T.R Knight. Several locations in Westcheste­r were used for filming, including the Motel 6 in Elmsford, the Galleria in White Plains and a private home on Buckout Road in West Harrison. Al Pacino is nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor in the Amazon Prime drama “Hunters,” which was filmed at Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers and in the village of Ossining. Ramy Youssef is nominated for a SAG and Golden Globe in the Hulu comedy series “Ramy” which filmed at the Westcheste­r County Correction­al Facility. Other Golden Globe and SAG nominees with ties to Westcheste­r include Scarsdale native Aaron Sorkin, for “Trial of the Chicago 7,” and Rye native Jason Bateman nominated for the Netflix drama “Ozark.”

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, on NBC.

Offering help… YWCA Greenwich is hosting a Zoom discussion on “When Staying Home Alone is No Longer Safe or Practical” at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. The conversati­on, moderated by Mimi Santry with Lori Contadino, Laurie Pensiero and Donna Spellman, will offer informatio­n on alternativ­es available to the elderly and the costs of these options. The talk will focus on community resources, day care, home care, assisted living and memory care communitie­s for seniors. The event is free and open to public. Scene… Actor Richard Gere, who lives in Pound Ridge, N.Y., will star in a romantic comedy “The Making Of” with Bedford, N.Y., resident Blake Lively as well as Diane Keaton and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The movie, written and produced by Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz of the Bedford Falls Co., tells the story of longtime filmmakers whose marriage is falling apart. Production is planned for this spring.

Out there… The Bedford Playhouse in nearby Bedford, N.Y., is honoring Black History Month by showcasing a selection of programmin­g highlighti­ng the Black experience. Programmin­g director Dan Friedman will host a Zoom conversati­on on the classic film “A Raisin in the Sun,” featuring Academy Award-winning actor Sidney Poitier, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23.
