Leonard John Genovese, Jr.

-

Leonard John Genovese, Jr., a resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on February 23, 2021. He was 75.

Lenny was born at United Hospital in Port Chester, New York on June 26, 1945, the son of Leonard John Genovese, Sr. and Eileen (Constantiane) Genovese. After graduation from Rye High School and completing basic training at Lackland and Amarillo Air Force bases, Lenny spent his military time at Rhein Mein Airport in Germany. Upon his active duty discharge, Lenny joined the Air Force Reserve, where he served until 1982, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant.

Lenny was an owner of Sagen Pistol Range in Port Chester, NY for many years. He also owned Bryar Lane Associates, a building maintenance business, working in conjunction with WRG Property Management in Port Chester, NY. Lenny held positions at Arch School, in Greenwich, CT, as a Security Officer and helped out at Brunswick School, on a part-time basis, with their parking/security protocols. In 2002, Lenny went to work at The Chieftans, a gated community in Greenwich, CT, as their Security Director and retired from this position after 14 years.

To say Lenny had a sense of humor and was very witty is an understatement. Whether he was talking conversationally or actually telling a joke, he was just plain funny. After 37 years together, he could still make Lynn belly laugh! He had a wonderful sounding voice, a smile that lit up a room and we would love to hear his great laugh. He was a very charismatic person and people were drawn to him. He loved the history of World War II and could talk at great length about its details. He was a smart, kind and wonderful person who will be truly missed.

Lenny is survived by his wife, Lynn Genovese, his daughters, Courtney Hendrickson (William) and Katie Genovese, his sister, Karen DeLeo (John); sisterin-law, Alane Orsino (Robert), brother-in-law, Alan Mozzi (Ellen); grandchildren Alice and Max Hendrickson, niece Suzanne Mozzi and nephew Michael Mozzi and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and his niece, Christine DeLeo.

Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT coordinated the arrangements. Services were private.

Donations to any animal rescue group would be deeply appreciated by the family.
