Conn. native dishes up dinner for Stallone
Scene… Actor, producer and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone of “Rocky” fame and his family were seen dining at the Pelican Café in Lake Park, Fla. The popular Italian American restaurant and bar, which opened in 2008, is owned by former Greenwich resident and town native Mark Frangione and his wife, Karen Howe.
Scene… Award-winning actress/producer Elisabeth Moss of “The West Wing,” “Mad Men” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” was seen having dinner at Mediterraneo on Greenwich Avenue on Friday night.
Out there… “Broadway at the Bartlett,” a virtual gala for 2021, takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 31. NBC News 4 New York newscaster Chuck Scarborough, a Stamford resident, will serve as host at the gala, featuring entertainment by members of the cast of “Ain’t Too Proud — The Life and Times of The Temptations.” This year’s event honors Polly O’Brien Morrow and Cheryl Carter. It will also feature an online silent auction, which will open on March 27 and close at 8 p.m. March 31. Donations will help to make the Herb Garden accessible for all abilities. Out there… To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Greenwich Library is featuring with bestselling historical novelist Lauren Willig in conversation with performing arts librarian Dora Salm that will go live at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 17. Willig will discuss her new book, “Band of Sisters,” which is based on the true story of a group of young women who gave up safety and affluence to work as humanitarians in occupied France during World War II. Willig is also the author of “The Summer Country,” the RITA Award-winning Pink Carnation series, and three novels co-written with Beatriz Williams and Karen White. She is an alumna of Yale University and Harvard Law School.

Scene… The Ernie Di Mattia Emerging Young Artist virtual reading will take place on Zoom at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14. Chris Israel, a Stamford resident and a junior at Brunswick High School in Greenwich; Nicole Talamo, a sophomore at New Canaan High School; and Marco Greco, a senior at White Plains High School in New York; were named winners of The Palace Theatre’s 2021 Ernie Di Mattia Emerging Young Artist Awards for writing original one-act plays. All three will witness their visions come to life with virtual readings by professional actors, led by Broadway veteran Luis Salgado. Explosive news… Town Director of Parks and Recreation Joe Sicliano said last week that plans are underway to hold Fourth of July fireworks in Old Greenwich after the pandemic forced the cancellation of the annual show last year. Tentatively, the show is scheduled for July 3, with a rain date of July 5.
