David A. Donovan, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 after a long and fulfilling life. He was born September 24, 1936, in Port Chester, New York to Matilda W. Donovan and Harry F. Donovan and attended Harrison High school in Harrison, New York, Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and Westcheste­r Community College in White Plains, New York.

On November 21, 1959, He married Carol Annon of Rye, New York, who survives him after 61 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter, Mary Ellen Windom of Sarasota, and her husband Robert Windom, Jr., his brother, James Donovan of Fountain Hills, AZ and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his only son, David A. Donovan, Jr.

David spent his career working for the Postal Service. In September 1982, He was appointed Postmaster of the Town of Harrison, Westcheste­r County, New York and he served in that position for more than 10 years until his retirement. David was a man of strong character and a loving husband and father. He was an avid runner in his younger years and enjoyed a good DIY project and was passionate about golf in retirement.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10:00 am with a Prayer Service following at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel at the Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in his name to a charity of choice.
