Blanca Tumbaco, 93, a resident of Stamford since 1965, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Quito, Ecuador on June 16, 1928 to the late Segundo and Rosa Rosales Barahona.

Blanca was known by all who knew her as a strong, kind and resilient woman who loved to care for, and feed all those around her with her delicious cooking skills. Blanca came to this country as a nanny/ housekeepe­r for a family in Greenwich when she first migrated to the US and then shortly after was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Joseph’s Medical Center of Stamford where she provided care for retired priests in the clergy for 25 years before her retirement in 1993.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Tumbaco, her granddaugh­ter, Cecilia Tumbaco, her two great grandchild­ren Re’Sean DuPree Jr. and Theodore Luis Harris of Stamford, many nieces and nephews here in CT and in Ecuador, her beloved cousin Bertha Fuel of North Carolina, as well as her long time companion Jose Luis Alberti of Bridgeport.

Besides her parents, Blanca was also predecease­d by her ex-husband Felix Tumbaco and her two sisters Rosa Maria Bermudez Rosales and Lina Bermudez Rosales.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. There will be no calling hours.
