NFL Hall of Famer hits the links locally

On the links… NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning was seen last week at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., where he played in the 84th Anderson Memorial Four-Ball Invitation­al with some of the best amateur combinatio­ns in the country. The former Denver Broncos quarterbac­k partnered with Fox News chief political analyst Bret Baier. The duo were guests of Winged Foot member J.P. O’Hara.

Sept. 11 tribute… The Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan is hosting a Sept. 11 commemorat­ive art exhibit called “Voices of Reflection.” The 20th anniversar­y exhibition, with art offering hope and healing, will kick off with an opening preview and cocktail reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1. Out there… Stamford Downtown’s Wednesday Nite Live kicks off at its new location at Mill River Park in Stamford at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, with New York blues-rock quartet Blues Traveler. Alive@Five takes place on the same site at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, with Louisiana-born pianist and singer Jon Batiste. Over 21 only will be admitted to Alive@Five. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Beverages will be available for purchase at the concert. For Hallmark fans… A new Hallmark holiday movie is getting ready to film here in Connecticu­t. “Next Stop Christmas,” starring Daytime Emmy winner Erika Slezak, who portrayed Victoria Lord on the daytime drama “One Life to Live,” is scheduled to start shooting in Old Lyme on Monday. Filming is also taking place in nearby Essex. Stay tuned.

Out there… The Breast Cancer Alliance’s ninth annual Golf Outing takes place Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Golf Club of Purchase in Purchase, N.Y. The event will feature an 11 a.m. lunch as the practice greens open; a 1 p.m. shotgun tee-off with best ball format, followed by cocktails, dinner and prizes, including a Maserati offered by Miller Motorcars after the tourney. The annual fundraiser goes to fund innovative early-stage research to fight breast cancer. To the market… The Greenwich Historical Society on Strickland Road in Cos Cob will host two Tavern Garden Markets this month. Out there…The annual “Moonlit in Mykonos” benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is sold out. The event, which takes place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, is featuring a festive cocktail party, food and dancing — all under a tent on the field adjacent to the BGCG’s Clubhuouse. Music… Billy & the Showmen Rhythm & Blues Revue will perform outdoors at the Greenwich Historical Society in Cos Cob from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. The grounds open at 5:30 p.m. for picnics.
