Candidates Matheny, Basone well-connected to community

- Nina Sherwood is a District 8 member of the Stamford Board of Representatives.

As interim Democratic deputy majority leader of the city’s 30th Board of Representatives, I resoundingly recommend candidates Jennifer Matheny and Pina Basone for election to the board in District 19.

The current board has been one of the most active and deliberative boards in recent decades. Jennifer and Pina wish to add their efforts to the board’s momentum by winning the Democratic primary Sept.14.

What sets Jennifer and Pina apart from their primary opponents is their longstanding ties to the community and their grasp of the issues the city and District 19 face. This understanding comes from their decades of experience living, working and volunteering in Stamford.

Pina, a Stamford native, is a successful Stamford Realtor, with 27 years of experience, who serves as a director on the Stamford Board of Realtors.

Jennifer sent her two children to Stamford Public Schools. She serves as the director of legal and compliance for a Stamford investment management firm. Both candidates have careers that require them to be fluent in legal policy and solve problems for clients. This experience translates directly into what we do on the board.

In addition to being two accomplished professionals, they have been active volunteers in our city for decades. Jennifer and Pina are committed to providing District 19 residents exceptional constituent services and representation. They want to preserve the natural beauty of North Stamford, protect our tax dollars, fix our aging roads and make Stamford a more environmentally sustainable city.

Serving as a representative is a volunteer position, but often requires full-time attention. Jennifer and Pina have the drive and experience that North Stamford needs. They are ready and deserving of your trust and will not let you down.
