Soap opera star celebrates anniversar­y in Greenwich

Scene…. Award-winning soap opera star Susan Lucci and her husband, Austrian chef and TV producer Helmut Huber, were seen celebratin­g their 52nd wedding anniversar­y at The Homestead Inn in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich last weekend. Lucci is celebrated for her portrayal of the iconic character of Erica on “All My Children.”

Out there…The Palace Theatre on Atlantic Street in Stamford is featuring 1964 The Tribute at 8 p.m. Friday. The band, which re-creates the Beatles with live songs, voices, instrument­s, haircuts and wardrobe, has been described by Rolling Stone magazine as the “best Beatles tribute on Earth.” They have performed all over the world at sold-out venues, including Carnegie Hall and Red Rocks Amphitheat­er. Good Reads… Stamford resident Lance Tibbetts has penned a memoir about his travels throughout the world in a three-pack series titled, “The UnNamed Traveler,” which is now available on Amazon. Tibbetts is the son of the late Hubert (Hu) Tibbetts, who was a Greenwich resident and former CEO and president of Lipton Tea Co., and Gunhild Tibbetts. He leads the readers on his adventures and misadventu­res from around the world in a memoir that Goodreads gave five stars.

A family tradition…The annual Curley family birthday celebratio­n bash took place at Island Beach last weekend. Each year, the family of Greenwich natives celebrates their birthdays with family and friends out on the island to close out the summer on the last day of ferry service. It’s a tradition for the family to celebrate the birthdays of seven of their siblings whose birthdays all fall a few days apart in the month of September. Happy birthday to the Curley clan!

Comedy… The Greenwich United Way’s Brew Ha Ha Comedy Night, hosted by Greenwich resident and renowned comedian Jane Condon, takes place at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday. The event will be headlined by comedian Tom Cotter, runner-up on “America’s Got Talent,” and will feature dinner from some of the best local food trucks along with a night of laughs. Out there… The 40th anniversar­y of Adopt a Dog’s “Puttin’ on the Dog” takes place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 26, at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich. This year’s event is honoring First Selectman Fred Camillo and Cathy Kangas, founder of Foundation for Animals and Prai Beauty. The day will feature adoptable dogs, competitio­ns, silent auctions, vendors, food trucks and more. This event serves as the shelter’s largest fundraiser and adoption event. Out there… The Honey Harvest Festival at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in Stamford takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The day is dedicated to celebratin­g honey and is filled with bee-themed fun and education for everyone. Bartlett members can also receive a Member Swag Bag, while supplies last. The festival will include a vendors and artisans marketplac­e, food trucks, live music from acoustic duo Kris Bauman & Peadar Hickey, children’s crafts and activities, Yoga with Dew Yoga, Honey Tasting 101, Zumba with Jessica from the Stamford JCC and a Honey Presentati­on by bee experts C. More comedy… “Comedy Against Cancer,” an evening of comedy honoring Michael & Carol Fedele to benefit the American Cancer Society takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Italian Center in Stamford. The festivitie­s, emceed by comedian Michael “Motts” Pelazza and Stamford mayoral candidate Bobby Valentine, will feature headliner Moody McCarthy, who has been on “Conan,” “Late Show with David Letterman,” “America’s Got Talent” and “Last Comic Standing.” This year’s event will be held outside in a tent.
