Marguerite “Marge” Denicola

-

Marguerite Mary Picataggio Denicola passed away on October 28,2021. Born to Joseph and Sarah Picataggio (Piscitelli) in Stamford, CT on November 15, 1943, Marge was the youngest child of three children. She grew up also in Stamford where she graduated from Stamford High School. Marge truly lived a life in caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.

In her beginning years as a mom, she poured out her love on her two childrenDenise and Deena, and when they were school age- she worked around their school hours in the Stamford school system as a teacher’s aide. She had a big heart to care for all children. She also worked at the YMCA in Greenwich caring for children there. When her children grew, she worked in several offices either as a receptionist or a bookkeeper. She and her husband Joe also had several family businesses. Marge worked tirelessly with her husband at a Carvel ice cream store in Riverside, CT as they were owners from 1981-1986.

Marge was known for her signature smile and warm hugs. She was a quiet woman of few words, but those few words were filled with genuine love and kindness. She enjoyed making delicious dinners and homemade holiday cookies for family gatherings. Marge met her husband Joe on July 4th, 1961 and on that day, he asked her to light his “firecracker”. That was Joe’s way of showing romantic interest in her. Marge married Joe on September 19, 1964 and they were married ever since. Marge and Joe enjoyed going to Broadway plays in the early years, and they also loved travelling to Florida, where Marge’s parents lived. They also took family trips to various places in the US.

Marge really enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and children, and keeping an orderly home filled with love and delicious food. She treasured simple times like taking rides, and sitting on her sofa, watching the trees and listening to the bird’s chirp.

Whenever friends or family came by, they were greeted with her beautiful smile and a home cooked meal.

In 2009 at the young age of 65, Marge needed surgery on her aorta, and after that time, her health declined on many levels. She later became a kidney dialysis patient and then a tracheostomy patient several years later. Her husband Joe wanted Marge to always be happy at home, so he insisted that she would always be at home in his care. This was her favorite place to be.

The family would like to thank God for giving them extra years with Marge during her years of decline. We would like to thank our wonderful caregiver Delmy Valle for lovingly caring for Marge in the recent years of her decline. Additionally, we would also like to thank Davita Kidney Care of Stamford for their dialysis services for these past eleven years, and LM Salon on High Ridge Road in Stamford for their years of extra special weekly hairdressing services for Marge.

Marge is survived by her loving husband Joseph Denicola, children Denise Conzo (Paul) and Deena Adams, and grandchildren Luke, Samantha and Ava. She is also survived by her sister Cathy Picataggio (Harry Silvern), Joe Picataggio (Diane), sister-in-law Marian DeNicola, Lorraine Denicola, Linda Vozzella and Hank Parente, and several nieces and nephews. Marge is also pre-deceased by brother-in-law Frank Denicola, Pat (Skippy) DeNicola, Vincent Denicola, Marie Parente, Anthony (Babe) Vozzella, Carmela and John Colandro, niece Angela (Denicola) Verrastro, and nephew Frank Colandro.
