Four injured in Stamford crash
STAMFORD — Four people were injured, two of them with serious injuries, in a crash early Saturday on
Washington Boulevard, according to police.
The collision occurred near the intersection with North Street at about 1:10 a.m., Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, a member of the department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, said in an email.
A 2017 Infiniti Q50 driven by a 28-year-old Stamford resident was traveling north on Washington as was a 2003 Honda Civic operated by a 22-year-old Stamford resident, Booth said.
“The vehicles came into contact on Washington Boulevard just north of the intersection with North Street,” said Booth. “The vehicles then continued traveling (north), still in contact with one another, until the driver’s side of the
Infiniti struck a tree. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.”
One of the passengers in the Infiniti, a 22-year-old Stamford resident, was extricated from the vehicle, he said. All three passengers in the Inifiniti were taken to the hospital for treatment, as was the driver of the Honda, Booth said.
“The operator of the Infiniti and the extricated passenger were both treated for serious injuries. Both were admitted to Stamford Hospital and are currently in stable condition. The other passenger of the Infiniti, a 28-year-old Stamford resident, and the operator of the Honda were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and were expected to be released,” said Booth.
The collision closed down Washington Boulevard for several hours, Booth said.
“Speed and alcohol use are probable factors in this collision,” he said.
The investigation remains open and active into the crash, Booth said..
