Dingle, Penn hand Yale a costly loss

PHILADELPH­IA — Jordan Dingle's 18 points helped Pennsylvan­ia defeat Yale 66-64 on Friday night.

The loss knocks Yale out of a tie for first place in the Ivy League with Princeton and the Bulldogs are now tied with Penn one game behind the Tigers with three games left in the regular season.

Dingle shot 5 for 15 (1 for 7 from 3-point range) and 7 of 8 from the free throw line for the Quakers (15-11, 7-4 Ivy League). Clark Slajchert scored 13 points, shooting 5 of 9 from the field and 3 for 4 from the line. Nick Spinoso was 4 of 10 shooting and 2 of 4 from the free throw line to finish with 10 points. The Quakers extended their winning streak to six games.

John Poulakidas finished with 17 points for the Bulldogs (17-7, 7-4). EJ Jarvis added 13 points and seven rebounds for Yale. In addition, Bez Mbeng finished with 13 points, four assists and three steals. The Bulldogs broke a six-game winning streak with the loss.

Fairfield 70, Marist 61:

At Poughkeeps­ie, N.Y., Caleb Fields scored 21 points as Fairfield beat Marist on Friday night.

Fields added five rebounds for the Stags (12-14, 8-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). TJ Long scored 21 points, shooting 7 for 9 (3 for 4 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Allan Jeanne-Rose shot 5 of 6 from the field to finish with 11 points.

Patrick Gardner led the way for the Red Foxes (817, 4-12) with 13 points. Javon Cooley added 11 points for Marist. Noah Harris also recorded 11 points, four assists and three steals.

Quinnipiac 66, Siena 63:

At Albany, N.Y., Matt Balanc hit four free throws in the final seven seconds to help Quinnipiac preserve a win over Siena on Friday night.

Dezi Jones had 12 points and six rebounds for the Bobcats (18-9, 9-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Balanc scored 12 points while going 3 of 8 from the floor, including 2 for 6 from distance, and 4 for 4 from the line, and added six rebounds. Luis Kortright went 5 of 11 from the field to finish with 10 points.

Jackson Stormo finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Saints (17-10, 11-5). Andrew Platek added 11 points for Siena. Javian McCollum also had eight points, five assists and three steals.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Penn 72, Yale 58: At Jenna Clark had a teamhigh 14 points as the Bulldogs (11-13, 5-6 Ivy) dropped an Ivy League contest on Friday.

Kayla Padilla led all scorers with 25 points for Penn (16-8, 8-3 Ivy).

Canisius 73, Fairfield 60: At Buffalo, N.Y., Kate Peek scored a team-high 15 points in a road loss for the Stags (13-12, 9-7 MAAC) on Friday.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

St. Lawrence 4, No. 6 Quinnipiac 1:

At Canton, N.Y., Alexa Hoskin scored the lone goal for the Bobcats (27-6-0, 17-4-0 ECAC) in a road loss on Friday.

No. 2 Yale 6, Dartmouth 1: At New Haven, Anna Bargman scored a pair of goals for the Bulldogs in an ECAC win on Friday.

Vita Poniatovsk­aia, Emma Seitz, Emma DeCorby and Jordan Ray all added goals for Yale (252-1, 18-2-1 ECAC).

Sacred Heart 4, St. Michael’s 3 (OT): At Fairfield, Sydney Antonakis scored in overtime to lift the Pioneers on Friday night.
