Maria Covino, 72, of Stamford, CT, passed away on February 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with Renal Cancer.

Maria was born on June 28, 1951 in Scauri, Minturno, Italy. After she completed schooling, she continued her education to become a seamstress. When Maria was 22 years old, she arrived in Stamford, CT. It was then when she met her future husband, Angelo Covino, and went on to start a family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church for many years.

Maria lived a life filled with love, compassion, and generosity. What Maria cherished more than anything else was her five granddaugh­ters. She could be found knitting new blankets, swimming in the pool, or playing scopa with them. Her passion for cooking, baking, and sewing brought warmth and joy to those around her. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, where she shared her delicious creations with family and friends. Her skilled hands crafted beautiful garments and items that were treasured by all who received them. Known for her kind heart and selflessne­ss, Maria dedicated her life to caring for others. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering a helping hand, or providing unwavering support, she touched countless lives.

Maria is survived by her husband of 49 years, Angelo Covino of Stamford, CT, her sons, Michael Covino (Amanda) of Stamford, CT and Anthony Covino of Middletown, CT, her grandchild­ren, Aliviamari­e, Abbygail, Adalynn, Abrieanna, and

Airiella Covino of Stamford, CT, a sister, Anna Migliorell­i of Canada, a brother, Claudio Floriano (Teresa) of Italy, her mother-in-law, Lucia Covino of Stamford, CT and her sister-in-law, Antoinette Faugno, Stamford, CT, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predecease­d by her parents, Gulio Floriano and Rosa Macera Floriano of Italy, her father-in-law, Michele Covino and two brothers-in-law, Elio Migliorell­i and Ricky Faugno.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lacerenza Macari Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Road, Stamford, CT 06903. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Maria’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
