Cumberland, MD- Margaret Ann Marini, 90, of Cumberland, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at The Country House.

Born March 30, 1933, in Montreal, Canada, Ms. Marini (known as Ann) was the daughter of the late Clifford Chalmers Fessenden and Clara Martha (Steele) Fessenden. She was also preceded in death by her brother James “Butch” Fessenden, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Ann moved to the United States in 1952 and became a United States Citizen, but in her heart, she remained a proud Canadian her whole life. She held a special love for the Gaspe Peninsula of Quebec, where she spent joyful summers in her youth, and later, as a young woman, bought acreage overlookin­g the Bay Chaleur, land she treasured for 70 years along with a dream of someday living on her land. She was an executive secretary for more than 40 years, working at several organizati­ons and retiring from the Stamford Housing Authority. Ann was a longtime member of the Fourth Presbyteri­an Church, Bronx, NY and later the First Presbyteri­an Church, Stamford, CT.

Ann is survived by her daughter: Catherine Marini; and her son: John Marini and wife Lori; her granddaugh­ters: Jamie Accashian and Landon Owen; Kate Accashian; Alex Marini and husband Chris King; Haley Marini; and Jordan Marini; a sister-in-law: Sheila Fessenden; nieces: Kim Fessenden Hodge; and Tammy LeGros and husband Michael; and nephews: Randy Fessenden; and John White and wife JoAnn.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Country House for providing Mom with gentle, empathetic care over these past several years. We were blessed that you became a part of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributi­ons be made in her name to the Family Crisis Resource Center, 146 Bedford Street, #1, Cumberland, MD 21502

A private Celebratio­n of Life will be held in on the Gaspe Peninsula, Mom’s special place, this summer.
