Greenwich Jersey Mike’s gives $25K to charity

Scene…Joe Cabrera, a longtime Greenwich resident, celebrated Jersey Mike’s Subs’ “Day of Giving” with Brian O’Hagen, owner of Jersey Mike’s Subs in Riverside on Wednesday. The sub sandwich shop, along with PepsiCo, donated $25,000 to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, as well as donating 100 percent of all sales to charity. This year, Jersey Mike’s hopes to exceed last year’s record-breaking national fundraisin­g total of $21 million.

Scene… Award-winning actor and producer Bryan Cranston is hosting the 2024 Americares Airlift Benefit, a celebratio­n of the Stamford-based organizati­on’s 45 years of life-changing health programs for people affected by poverty or disaster on April 11 at the TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy Internatio­nal Airport in New York City. The evening will include cocktails, dinner and dancing, as well as inspiratio­nal stories about the impact Americares is making in the United States and around the world. Americares board member and actor, director, producer and New Canaan resident Tony Goldwyn will introduce Cranston and will speak at the event. On the morning of April 12, a group of guests will depart on a 48-hour journey to Colombia, where Americares operates health centers and mobile clinics in 10 cities for families fleeing the humanitari­an crisis in Venezuela and other underserve­d population­s. Scene… “An Evening in Monte Carlo Gala,” benefiting the YMCA Greenwich, takes place at Greenwich Country Club on April 6 at 6 p.m. The event will offer guests the opportunit­y to

participat­e in feature casino table games including blackjack, roulette, craps, Texas hold ‘em, and three-card poker. Chips earned can be used for raffle tickets in an auction featuring an array of fabulous prizes. Gala tickets include $200 casino vouchers. For more info and tickets go to greenwichy­mca.org.

Out there… Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company and its volunteer firefighte­rs will host its first “Family Fun Day” to celebrate children and families of the backcountr­y and Greenwich on April 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Whitby School in Greenwich. The event will feature

food trucks, and a bake sale, a fire station bounce house, an inflatable fire truck obstacle course, carnival games, sports games (double shot basketball, first down football toss, soccer challenge score-a-goal), a ninehole mini golf course, as well as Round Hill Fire and GEMS touch-a-truck, balloon artist, face painter, and arts and crafts. Volunteer firefighte­rs will also conduct fire safety demonstrat­ions, and Scout, RHVFC’s fire dog, will also be at the event.

The rain date is April 7. All proceeds benefit Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizati­on.

Scene… Edie Falco, star of “The Sopranos” and a Pound Ridge, N.Y., resident, visited John Jay High School in Cross River, N.Y. last week. Falco, who portrayed Carmela Soprano on the hit HBO series, spoke to over 100 students in a 90minute conversati­on as part of the school’s Social and Theoretica­l Criticism in the Serial Narrative elective, answering questions about her life and career.

Out there…The United States Army Field Band of Washington, D.C. will be performing a free concert at The Palace Theatre in Stamford on Wednesday
