Alexan­dria (Lola) Bat­tee Thomp­son, passed away peace­fully on Tues­day, Novem­ber 6th sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily. She was born Novem­ber 22, 1937 in White Plains, N.Y. to the late Mary Sy­mule­vich Bat­tee and Ernest Leon Bat­tee.

Lola’s fam­ily moved to Stam­ford when she was a year old. She grad­u­ated from Stam­ford High School in 1955 and con­tin­ued her ed­u­ca­tion at Mer­rill Busi­ness School. She worked at AMF as an ex­ec­u­tive sec­re­tary and ap­peared in commercials and print ads as a model. Lola then changed her ca­reer path to work at the Stam­ford Hos­pi­tal for 31 years in ma­ter­nity, pe­di­atrics and the billing de­part­ment un­til her re­tire­ment in Septem­ber 2001.

Lola loved help­ing fam­ily and friends. She vol­un­teered at the Smith House, the Tan­det Cen­ter and at Stam­ford Hos­pi­tal. She was also a mem­ber of the Columbi­ettes, the St. Mary’s Se­niors, the St. Mary Rosary So­ci­ety and the Se­nior Cen­ter at the Stam­ford Gov­ern­ment Cen­ter. In the sum­mer you could find her at Cum­mings Beach, walk­ing at Cove Is­land or at her sis­ter Judy’s pool.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents she is pre­ceded in death by her broth­ers Ernest Bat­tee (Elaine) and Ralph “Butch” Bat­tee (Sharon), a niece, Linda Bat­tee, and for­mer hus­band and friend, John “Jack” Thomp­son.

She is sur­vived by her sis­ter Ju­dith Var­tuli (Frank); her chil­dren Doreen Re­ichard, Mark Thomp­son and Su­san Thomp­son; grand­chil­dren Leah, David, Sarah, Jonathan, Mark, Chatham and Bai­ley; and great grand­son, Luke James as well as nu­mer­ous lov­ing nieces, neph­ews and friends. Spe­cial thanks to her won­der­ful sis­ter Judy Var­tuli, and dear friend Pia DeLuca.

Visi­ta­tion will take place on Sun­day, Novem­ber 11th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bosak Fu­neral Home, 453 Ship­pan Ave., Stam­ford, CT 06902. A mass of Chris­tian burial will take place on Mon­day, Novem­ber 12th at 12 p.m. noon at St. Mary’s Church, 566 Elm Street, in Stam­ford. The in­ter­ment will im­me­di­ately fol­low mass at St. John R.C. Ceme­tery in Darien, CT.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions in Lola’s mem­ory may be made to the Stam­ford Hos­pi­tal Foun­da­tion, 1351 Wash­ing­ton Blvd., Suite 202, Stam­ford, CT 06902 or to St. Mary Church, 566 Elm Street, Stam­ford, CT 06902.
