Patient Stamford Realtor has a vast knowledge of the local market
ARealtor since the 1970s, Jim Caldarone Jr. has seen lots of changes in the real estate field. But perhaps the most welcome change he saw was when his son and daughter changed their minds and became licensed Realtors about 18 years ago.
Caldarone’s son Marc manages the Westport offices of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, while Caldarone and his daughter, Aimee Sciglimpaglia, work out of the company’s Stamford offices. It is Caldarone’s third stint with William Pitt Sotheby’s.
“I used to tell my kids to get your license because someday I will not do this anymore and they said they did not want to sell real estate and saw how hard I worked at it,” Caldarone said. “They both decided, though, one day to take the course.” The rest is history.
While Caldarone, who has lived most of his life in Stamford, is not on an official team with his daughter, the two often work together on deals.
“My daughter’s strong points are she is also very knowledgeable of the area having lived in Stamford her whole life,” Caldarone said, adding, “She has grown up with me selling real estate since she was born. She is also very technologically savvy.”
Caldarone’s strong points include his patience, knowledge of the market, reputation and strong negotiating skills.
“I always had an interest in homes and when I was younger I wanted to be an architect and would draw sketches of homes,” said Caldarone, who noted the biggest change since he’s been in the business is technology. “Back then, we did not have the tools we have today. Often customers came to the office and we spent hours with them going from house to house in the same car. Nowadays, buyers do their shopping online and more or less think they know what they want to see.”
But, he said, a trusted Realtor who knows the lay of the land is still a must for anybody looking to buy or sell a home. Caldarone covers primarily Stamford, New Canaan and Darien.
