Stamford Advocate - - News -

The Stamford Board of Finance made sure last night that police have money to reinstate foot patrols in certain city neighborhoods when they deem it necessary.

The board also saw to it that the Traffic and Parking Department will have money to pay signal repair crews for “standby time” and approved additional funds to continue the search for a new police chief.

Before voting 5-1 for an additional $319,949 appropriation requested by the police department for overtime, finance board members questioned police administrators if the money, a large part of which is to be used in conjunction with a state drug enforcement grant, could be used more efficiently in community policing efforts.
