A Darien woman has been named by President Donald Trump to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Jennifer H. Rearden, a partner in the litigation and crisis management practice groups at New York Citybased firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, lives in Darien according to her Facebook page.

“We are enormously proud of Jen’s nomination to serve as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Jen is an extraordinary partner, lawyer and friend,” said Ken Doran, chairman at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

“Even as we will miss her daily presence at the firm, we know that, when confirmed, she will serve with the greatest distinction and integrity on a court justly famed for both.”

Rearden has donated to several Democratic campaigns, according to Federal Elections Commission data.

In 2008, she donated $2,000 to Barack Obama’s campaign, and Rearden has contributed repeatedly to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as Gillibrand’s Off the Sidelines PAC which works to get more women elected to office.

At Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Rearden “has litigated complex commercial cases before United States District Courts and State courts throughout the country,” according to the White House.

Rearden earned a Bachelor's from Yale University and a law degree from New York University School of Law.
