Size matters: ECU has three 7-footers on its roster, though one of them (Ludgy Debaut) is out for the season with a foot injury. That still leaves a pair that UConn must worry about, including starting center Charles Coleman, who was recruited by UConn and several other high-majors, including Wake Forest and, allegedly, Duke. Coleman wound up following former UConn assistant Raphael Chillious to ECU, where Chillious is Joe Dooley’s associate head coach.

Coleman is averaging just 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game. He is backed up by fellow 7-footer Edra Luster, who has played in just 13 games and is averaging just 0.6 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest.

“Coleman is gonna be good for them,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said. “He’s a big, physical guy.”

Clog it up? ECU doesn’t have a player shooting better than 35 percent from 3-point land, so look for the Huskies to protect the paint and try to avoid giving up layups and drives to the hole. Hurley noted he may play a little more zone, though he’s loathe to do so on the road, where average shooter can get confidence and become great shooters on any given night.

Farewell, Greenville: UConn won at Minges Coliseum last March 10 — the Huskies’ lone road win last season. UConn is just 1-7 on the road this season, its lone win on Feb. 6 at Tulsa.

The Huskies are 11-2 all-time against ECU and 8-1 as AAC mates, their lone loss coming on March 1, 2017 at Minges. This is the first time UConn will face ECU this regular season, and also the last ... ever, at least as league rivals. The Huskies move to the Big East next season and likely will never set foot in Greenville, N.C. again.
