If you are looking for a recently renovated and expanded home that’s well maintained inside and outside and near the desirable Darien/Norwalk border, look no further than Darien’s 8 Wakeman Road.

Homeowners Crystal and Richard Hill gutted and expanded the entire house in 2014 to perfection.

The home – which was 2,300square-feet when the Hill’s purchased it in 2011, is now 4,100square-feet.

“Every room got touched up,” Crystal Hill said. “The house went from four bedrooms and two baths to six beds and 4 ½ baths. The kitchen was expanded and opens to the family room; prior to that, they were separate rooms.”

In addition, Hill said, the front walkway and patio were redone in 2014 and all of the systems – including central air - are new, That, she said, includes new heating and hot water and a fullhouse generator that “literally goes on in 10 seconds.” The home was professionally landscaped in the spring of 2015.

The gray colored home, located in southeastern Darien, has an unfinished 600-square foot basement, a main level, a second level and a pull-down attic.

To the left of the foyer on the main level is the formal living room, with one of the home’s three fireplaces. The living room, Hill said, runs the full front side of the house.

To the right-hand side of the foyer, Hill said, is the home’s sixth bedroom. It’s en suite and, Hill said, “we use it as an office. It’s a great spot for an in-law or family member. It has its own bathroom and it has a closet. It’s also away from the other bedrooms.”

Next to the main level bedroom, which is on the back side of the house, is the dining room with custom built-in hutch with a bar area and chandelier. “There are also tons of light that comes through the two windows in that room,” Hill said.

The dining room, she said, opens to the large kitchen/family room. “It’s an open concept,” Hill said. “It’s the best feature of the house. The kitchen island is massive and can sit a family of six. The eat-in kitchen was completely renovated with high-end appliances.”

The appliances – which are GE Monogram – includes double ovens and wine refrigerator. “We put a lot of work and energy in decorating it,” Hill said. “It’s where we live.”

The kitchen opens to the family room, which has double French doors to the backyard/patio. There is also built-in shelving. Off the kitchen is a mud room with half bath.

There is also a SoNo sound system for the entire downstairs that is controlled by a phone, Hill said.

The second level boasts the master suite, one of five bedrooms on that level.

The master has a wood-burning fireplace and a walk-in closet, and the grey and white master bath was added during renovation six years ago.

The laundry room is located on the second level, along with a large pantry area.
