GREENWICH — Curry & Hurry is the name of new Greenwich restaurant that gives diners a good idea of what to expect.

It dishes up spicy Indian cuisine with speedy and safe curbside pickup or quick delivery, with online odering.

The restaurant, open since August, offers what it calls “Fine Indian Dining,

The American Way.”

“Dishes that go centuries back in time and those which are new entrants on the menu of the cosmopolitan Indian are cooked with great pride in our kitchen,” the restaurant says on its website. “With careful study, Curry & Hurry have curated Indian dishes that best suit the American palate.”

The restaurant at 1340 E. Putnam Ave. offers nearly 40 entrees that encourage diners to try something new.

Many are curry dishes that are flavored with a combination of spices or herbs, usually including ground turmeric, cumin, coriander, ginger and fresh or dried chilies.

Owner Joshu Ragu says his Indian cuisine restaurant is one of the few places in the Greenwich area where diners can order authentic dishes such as the spicy cauliflower appetizer. Another favorite dish is the chicken pineapple curry loaded with chopped peppers, onions and coconut — and finished off with a few handfuls of salty cashews.

Ragu, who has worked at restaurants across the county, says Greenwich residents have been friendly and supportive of the new restaurant.

One reviewer on the Seamless food delivery website said, “Food was excellent! Great COVID procedure, too. They brought the food out when they saw my car pull up and I didn’t even have to call. Ordered chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, palak paneer and naan. Everything had tons of flavor. Really loved their tikka masala sauce — it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I’m glad this place is so close by. I’ll definitely be back. Best Indian food in

town!”

Among the appetizers on its current menu are batata vada with batter fried potato, chickpea flour, rice flour, ginger, turmeric and fenugreek leaf; samosas with a fried or baked pastry with a tasty filling, such as spiced potatoes, onions, peas and lentils; and spinach pakoda, baby spinach deepfried with chickpea batter and served with mint, tamarind and yogurt sauce.

And yes, there are chicken wings with an Indian twist marinated in ginger, garlic and garam masala and cooked in a tandoor oven.

There are nearly a dozen vegetarian dishes, including channa masala, slow-cooked chickpeas in tomato onion gravy with turmeric, cumin, coriander, garam masala. The palak paneer dish is Indian cottage cheese cooked with spinach and spices in a creamy and flavorful curry.

There are five lamb dishes, including lamb curry and a traditional lamb dish cooked in whole garam masala and kashmiri chilli sauce.

Marinated dishes cooked in a tandoor oven with Indian spices include chicken breast, salmon, lamb chops, lamb kabobs.

There is also seven chicken offerings, including butter chicken, a yogurt and spice-marinated chicken in a red bath of butter, onion, tomatoes with garam masala. Among the shrimp dishes are shrimp coconut curry and shrimp mango.

Curry & Hurry also offers milkshakes, including Indian-style varieties and for the American Way, there’s strawberry and chocolates milkshakes as well.
