Magical water views on Dolphin Cove

If you are looking for magical water views in the heart of Stamford’s private Dolphin Cove association, then look no further than 27 Half Moon Way.

Geri Pell, homeowner of the 34-year-old cottage-style colonial since 2019, said the best feature of the 2,302-square-foot home is “the serenity of the backyard. It feels like an Italian villa when it’s lit up at night overlooking the water.”

There are, in fact, Pell said, wondrous water views of Long Island Sound from most of the rooms in the home. The association has 104 homes in total.

There are two levels and a pull-down attic in the gray home, of which association amenities include a beach, pool, clubhouse, deep water docks and tennis courts.

Walk into the foyer and go to the left and there are French doors that open to a beautiful terrace, which is a dining area, Pell said.

The spacious living room, also to the left of the foyer, offers a working wood-burning fireplace, one of three fireplaces in the home. There are also bay windows and vaulted ceilings, Pell said. She added that all the flooring on the first floor is wood.

To the right of the foyer are the stairs that go to the second level. In addition, still on the main level, is the dining room which has two windows that let in a lot of light.

“There is a beautiful fixture there that reminds you of the ocean because it has shells that are designed to reflect light,” Pell said.

The dining room, Pell said, opens directly into the large family room with a Mendotta gas fireplace which is top-of-the-line and remote controlled. The fireplace, Pell said, is surrounded by recycled glass tiles “in soothing spa-like ocean colors.” In addition, she said, there is a brandnew wall unit that was custom built to surround the fireplace and accommodate a 60-inch television with cabinets and bookshelves.

The family room opens directly to the updated gourmet kitchen. The kitchen was updated last year with new quartz counters and glass tile backsplash. The kitchen cabinets were painted white and there are new lighting fixtures. The kitchen includes a Sub-Zero refrigerator; separate Sub-Zero freezers; a six-burner Wolf stove with grill; and a Bosch dishwasher and microwave. There is also, Pell said, a GE Profile Advantium built-in convection wall oven.

The kitchen, Pell said, “also has a huge island that can seat four.”

“You can see the water from the kitchen and that makes it feel like a beach house,” Pell said.

There are also double doors, Pell said, that opens to the brick patio courtyard that gives “plenty of privacy.”

The second level features the master bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking the Long Island Sound. The suite also includes a wood-burning fireplace, a nice-sized walk-in closet and an additional closet.

There are two more bedrooms – including one being used as an office – on the second level.

The brick patio, Pell said, extends around the corner of the house. The backyard, she said, is filled with mature plantings and has a white picket fence.
