Police ID victim in Stamford homicide

Fatal stabbing is city’s fifth homicide of year

- By Pat Tomlinson

STAMFORD — Police have identified the man who was stabbed to death early Wednesday morning as a homeless man who had family in the city.

Lt. Tom Scanlon said Jimmy Louis, 43, was found wounded in a car that pulled up to people on Hamilton Avenue early Wednesday morning. He had multiple stab wounds to his upper body, police said.

First responders to the scene performed CPR on Louis. He was later transported to

Stamford Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The homicide is being investigated in conjunction with the Stamford State’s Attorney’s Office.

Scanlon said investigators believe the fatal stabbing, which has been ruled a homicide, happened on Culloden Road, near the intersection with Penzance Road.

The incident was reported to police by a third party around 1:10 a.m., according to Scanlon.

Police were investigating two crimes scenes Wednesday morning, one on Culloden Road and the other on Hamilton Avenue, according to Scanlon.

Anyone with any information about the stabbing is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 203-977-4421 and should ask to speak with case supervisor Sgt. Sean Boeger.

Police had portions of Hamilton Avenue near Culloden Road, where a white car sat with its doors open, taped off early Wednesday morning as they investigated the scene.

Scanlon said the white car had been carrying the injured man when it pulled up to a group of people on Hamilton Avenue and someone in it asked for help.

This is the fifth homicide of the year, according to Capt. Richard Conklin, commander of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

The last homicide in the city was the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Lwidji Brun at his Ursula Place home on May 18. Police have made three arrests in that case.

Police have made arrests in all but one of this year’s homicides; the exception is the death of a 56-year-old woman at the Stamford Manor apartment complex on Main Street on April 20, which was only recently ruled a homicide.

Anyone with any information regarding Louis, has had any recent contact with him, or has any information about the stabbing is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 203-977-4421 and should ask to speak with case supervisor Sgt. Sean Boeger.
