STAMFORD — Friday’s Hey Stamford! Food Festival at Mill River Park will honor all Thursday tickets — and the country band Jump the Gunn will be featured — after early reports of heavy rainfall caused organizers to cancel on Thursday.

The festival, which returned to Stamford for its fourth year after a COVID-19-induced hiatus in 2020, will also honor healthcare workers and first responders with free admission Friday with proof of identification.

Organizers acknowledged that Thursday’s cancelation was not without its irony.

“Knowing that the weather has been changing constantly, it was a difficult decision, but (we) wanted to make sure all our attendees, partners and vendors had enough notice and were safe,” festival organizer PJ Kennedy told The Stamford Advocate on Thursday. “Of course, once we made the announcement, the sun starts coming out.”

Hey Stamford! has moved to make festival admission free of charge on Sunday as well, though tickets can still be reserved at the festival’s website.
